7-30 Waters. I'd rather sell it outright than consign it.

T/C Contender Super 16 in 7-30 Waters chambering. Gun was purchased new around 1995 or thereabouts. Condition is used but excellent. It has a 16 inch barrel with recessed concave crown and Mag Na Ported by J D Jones of SSK Handcannon fame. The scope base was also provided by SSK. Scope rings are Weaver brand and have been lapped for a better fit to a scope. It's had about 190 rounds through it. Comes with 88 rounds of twice fired brass and there are also 11 loaded rounds. Also included is a set of Redding dies, 2 x 100 count boxes of Sierra # 7250 7 mm 130 grain Spitzer bullets. A new Uncle Mikes Sidekick camo shoulder holster completes the package.

Certainly seems that way.

I never understood these odd-ball calibers. Aren't there enough standard calibers that can get the job done and that are readily available from most gun shops and sporting goods stores? When buying a gun I'm always concerned with the availability of ammo. I'm guessing this gun will be difficult to sell in this caliber. The fact that the barrels for this gun are interchangeable with other more standard calibers should help sell it though.

The reason for these pistols is that they are THE BEST for silhouette shooting.

When you are axing a ten inch barrel on a PISTOL to hit a steel sheep silhouette at 200 METERS, you need the absolute max power that a pistol can deliver.

I had one that I used to win smoe competitions in the 70's when I was doing silhouette shooting.

It was 7mm TC/U which is a 7mm bullet seated in an expanded .223 ...rifle... case.

Small case capacity held just enough powder to get it burnt in that dinky 10 inches. And still blast a slug @ 2,034 feet per second out of that short barrel.

I kinda wish I had kept mine, but I lost interest when I stopped shooting silhouette competitions.

I also had the 22 LR companion barrel but seldom used it as my High Standard auto could shoot just as well.

CA requires a ..FEE...from the manufacturer to ...approve... a gun for sale here. Of course.

But I would agree that it might not pass the "drop test" as that trigger is ...LIGHT!

Then again I had no idea that one needed a permit to purchase a handgun [at least here in Iowa] in order to buy an action. Since it can be used to make a handgun, it's considered to be a handgun. If it didn't leave the factory with a barrel, it's not a rifle; or so says the BATF.

7-30 Waters ammo is commercially loaded, but likely not all places stock it. Since it's called rifle ammo, it may be too powerful for a Contender. Not everyone would want one in .30-.30 Winchester which is the parent case for this round. Many people reload for various reasons so non-standard stuff is no biggie to them. Many wildcats have become factory offerings or have spawned factory offerings. The 7-30 Waters is a good compromise between something that's adequate for hunting and can be shot with some comfort. It was a standard chambering when I bought it.

One of the weird things is that TC used to (maybe still does) make a shoulder stock for any of the barrels over 16"

But they fit the shorter barrels just dandy.

BUT..... get caught between switching the barrel and have the stock on a barrel less than 16" and you're going to prison on a federal charge.

Stupid!

They still have a T/C rifle which is just a Contender with a buttstock and a longer barrel, no? Called the Pro Hunter.

If they do, just don't get caught putting the pistol barrel on it.
