The new (better) way to speculate

Bitcoin futures are a much better way for speculators to profit on the ups and downs of bitcoin's market value. Even people who have small accounts can use Cboe's bitcoin futures to initiate trades with position sizes of just one bitcoin. With a minimum maintenance margin of 30%, speculators can put up just $3,381 to profit on the ups and downs of one bitcoin currently worth $11,270.

Why would any rational speculator pay a 70% premium for bitcoin by purchasing shares of the Bitcoin Investment Trust when the Cboe's bitcoin futures contract enables one to speculate through a brokerage account without paying a large premium?

HLT, did you buy?

First day of bitcoin futures trading seems to be doing well if you're long...

https://www.investors.com/news/cboe-bit ... yptr=yahoo

Bitcoin futures started Sunday evening on Cboe Global Markets (CBOE) Sunday, with the cryptocurrency surging. January Bitcoin futures rose 15% to $17,790 in active trading after topping $18,000 at one point.

...over $17,000 in late afternoon trading Monday after hovering in a range around $16,500 for much of the day. Bitcoin futures for January delivery were also trading higher at about $18,500. The futures launch appears to have gone smoothly, and owners of Bitcoin itself don't seem spooked by the new product.

If there's a loser from all this activity it's the aforementioned Bitcoin Investment Trust. The over-the-counter security that tracks the price of Bitcoin has generally traded at a large premium to the underlying Bitcoin it holds, reflecting its scarcity value as the only security investors could trade. But since the launch of Bitcoin futures that premium has shrunk considerably, to 13% from 35% a day before. The scarcity value is disappearing. (GBTC is still up 12% today, as Bitcoin keeps rising.)

Let's now Google:

"Can you sell your Bitcoins for cash?"

Okay????? :D

Quote:
Sell Bitcoins for Cash Online. Services like LocalBitcoins and BitQuick can help you accept cash payments for bitcoin online. You create a sell order on one of the sites. Once a buyer accepts your offer, they are given your bank account details.

Who owns it? You do if you buy it. It's peer to peer.

So I mentioned earlier that I'd made a run at buying bitcoin at the last drop @ $4500. Axed my techine nephew to help me set up a wallet, he told me not to buy. Overpriced. Nobody wants it anymore.

So I didn't.

But I did buy 2 shares of GBTC over the weekend. I'm up $500 in a day and 1/2 nana:
