Sales tax currently at 8.6%.

First proposal adds a half percent for preschool/daycare. Even the commie local newspaper opposes it.

Second adds a tenth of a percent for the zoo.

Zoo is a good thing I suppose, but take the money out of the 8.6% and (drumroll please) admission fees.

Daycare goes down 2 to 1. A bit of sanity left in this town that threw 60% of the vote to Hillary.

I forgot about the 80% pay raises to the mayor and his council band of thieves. Wonder how that does.

Update: pay raise going down by 71-28 margin!

Zoo vote too close to call. Simba may prevail.

Zoo vote passes. Only a tenth of a percent hike, but that is a tenth of a point that makes existing retailers less competitive with Amazon.

Voters only have hindsight.

Reasonable increase for the mayor and council might have been justified. 65% was going to get zero support.

Problem that we have in the city is that these rabid Dems along with the free wheeling GOB governor have given multi decade tax abatements to the likes of Raytheon, Caterpillar, Comcast and any decent concern that will locate here. We are building an $80,000,000 facility for CAT at public expense.

So if these rogues are not ponying up their fair share it falls on the poor schmuck rank and file taxpayer to make up the difference.

They/I have had it.

AZ handed over a ton of incentives to Amazon to built a massive distribution center near Phoenix. Part of the deal is no sales taxes in this state.

Whatever small B&M's remaining have really gotten hosed. Most have been replaced by dental offices and urgent care.
