Fat and bone are linked by many pathways, which ultimately serve the function of providing a skeleton appropriate to the mass of adipose tissue it is carrying. Leptin, adiponectin, adipocytic estrogens and insulin/amylin are involved in this connection. However, excessive body fat, and particularly abdominal fat, produces inflammatory cytokines which may stimulate bone resorption and reduce bone strength.

Which bone did you break and how did it happen? Inquiring minds want to know.

You should consider wearing a suit of carbon fiber armor. Foot problems suck, we don't think about our feeties much until they give us trouble.

Nothing exciting, sadly. I was doing some work at the farm and went over on the side of my foot ... SNAP said the fibula.

Ouch! Do you have a walking cast or do you need crutches? Hope you're not in too much discomfort. :(

The hospital put me in a splint Sunday night. When I got to the ortho yesterday they took that off and have me in a boot, no cast. I do have crutches and I hate them. If I had to keep all weight off of my foot/ankle/leg I would be looking for one of those knee cart things pictures above. I'm guessing the pain will lessen here in the next few days. In the meantime I am trying hard to get by with ibuprofen only. I have some percocet for when it gets too unpleasant.

This sucks.

You could post more often instead of just throwing us a bone once in a great while.

Percocet will keep you from pooping.
With me it will stop my heart.

How's your calcium?

Calcium is good and I have had no trouble with percocet in the past. Of course I also don't take it a lot, either.

You know you don't actually need that bone, right?

Have them remove it! Unnecessary bit of burden!

Just walk carefully thereafter. You'd have some less stability in the ankle. Nothing you can't live without tho!

Don't send it to me....... whistle: whistle: whistle:

Central, not south ... and yes. As hard as it is to hobble around the place, I still love it. And at least it is only 6 acres. The 60 we had a number of years back would have been impossible.
