Still a few moves to go, but ya. This looks to be the turning point in the game

Marshall vs Capablanca 1918

Quote:
"Cabablanca, however, is just not any player; he's one of the greatest defensive geniuses of the game. Faced with one of the masters of the tactical assault, he remains calm and slowly, but systematically, exposes black's overeaching."

Capablanca=white hat.

This. I was two moves from checkmate. My youngest son was so focused on getting my King boxed in that he dint see across the board my Rook and Queen set up. My attack left me somewhat vulnerable. Was it worth the two moves? I had him, but he relentlessly attacked my open King, keeping me on the defensive and from the inevitable. I could see he was frothing at seizing my King. His eyes were focused only on one part of the board. He finally made a move that gave me a break. He never saw it coming. Checkmate! The look on his face... :twisted: That was three months ago. He's been attending after school chess every day since September. He's improved a bit. whistle: He just beat me two games in a row. My first loss, I did not see it coming at all until it was too late and when I did I was in denial, no, no, what's this elmo, no...I can't lose, no... The second loss, I saw a mile away and couldn't do anything about it. Okole!

My Grandfather would have laughed his ass off and ridiculed me endlessly. He was a German champ pre WWII. My Dad would've smiled. He won a couple of significant games while in Canada. My dad would've been amused that it was his Ethiopian grandson that beat his son. My grandfather would've had a heart attack. :twisted:

No idea on this. I do not see either having a decisive advantage; it could
go either way. Maybe that's the point??? He has many possible moves??
Or maybe he's wasted sitting on an island somewhere by now.

It may have something to do with his situation but I find it interesting that he used an example which shows the “white hat, or good guy” looking like he/she is going to lose and then through patient strategy turns it around and wins.

Anyway...the next couple of weeks are going to be very revealing in regards to the spying, dossier and the Russia investigation. It could be about that too

Kind of funny, and most likely coincidental, the black piece player, Frank Marshall, has a similar name to someone who is thought by many to be Barry’s true father. :lol:
