Starting at $34 and continuing on to $40. And then I realized that I’d be paying $800k in taxes and if there was some way to hold on another 11 months then I’d save $400k. But I do want those profits - the whole point of buying it in the first place was to generate extra funds for the house.

Stock guys - any suggestions on how to lock in the profit and also hold to a year and save some of those taxes?

Take an offsetting short position.

(better check with the accountant first.)

Yah my broker said to collar it but doesn’t think we can sell enough options as the volume is too light

Some would be better than none, yes?

My question is....how do you know it won’t go down in value over the course of the year? Maybe I missed something.

Ask yourself what would Pres. Trump do... then do that.

My broker always says....pigs get slaughtered.

Ain’t nothing wrong with locking in the gains piecemeal.

Just pay your taxes. You would if Hillary won, right?
I mean, it is the right thing to do...to pay your fair share....right?

I don't go to IV much anymore. https://www.investorvillage.com/index.asp

I met some purty great (and BIG) guys there. Most are dead now.

but...

WTF are you doing axing fin advice on OFR?

I don't know how much you have, but it seems you could use a real ADVISOR.

From what I've seen, good BUSINESS men aren't always good MONEY men.

You've demonstrated a willingness to partner up with savvy sharks and there are a bunch of money handling sharks out there.

P.S. NOTHING will ever replace LENDING as ...THE.... business.
P.P.S. Sometimes the smartest thing is to PAY the taxes.

I thought the same thing, and there are two answers.

1. There *are* other folks on the OFR with a Elmo of money. According to Otis at least one with more than TDN. They just don't do the subtle attention whoring and ego flexing like he does.
2. Speaking of which, attention whoring. It's like if someone asks, "Hey, do you guys think I should push my new Lambo all the way past 200, or should I keep it to 175 on the freeway?"

Well we do have one uber sharp money man on the board who's a regular and been in the biz for decades, except no one but me knows who he is, and he wants it kept that way. Doubt whether he'll PM you. Hmmmm, might ask my SIL, but considering you never read that treatise of his I sent you, which got him good air time on the financial channels, he'll probably tell you to FO

Actually, I do believe I did

Edit - upon further reflection, I think I started on it, said aaaack, this is in depth and decided to read the balance later and never did. Mea culpa
