If you were playing a moderately difficult course and could only use a single club, which would it be?

Be interesting to see what the pros would select vs the duffers.

7 iron for me

I once played our head of Golf straight up and he used a 4 iron. He made his first two long putts and I thought damn!!! Took a while, but I beat him

Actually, I wouldn’t. It’s wrong to objectify women like that.

I figured 5 iron. Better for putting and distance.

Yes, like chess and NASCAR.

I played a round with a guy who only used his 3 wood. He still beat me.

Not if you jam the club through to lock it up and roll the ball through.

gave this more thought. I guess the answer would depend on which specific course I was about to play. Smoe have forced carries (all over water or a swamp or something). On a course like that, 7 iron would do no good.

Give me a 4 iron.
I can hit it a good way, usually straight and I can open it up if I need more air.
Great putter too two to.

But on a nice tight skill course the 7 would be the club.

I played a round years ago and broke my 7 iron on a Par 3 on the 3rd hole at my club.
The freaking head just broke off the shaft.

I never realized how important my 7 iron was before that day.

A 7 iron will not break a tree off at the roots.
