I like it. All true, actual footage of murder scene, trial, and aftermath. If you think the police can't get an improper confession from someone, you need to watch this series. The psychological coercion happens. I've listened to hours of murder interrogations.

Quote:
The thought of being wrongly convicted and imprisoned for a crime you didn’t commit is one of the most chilling fates imaginable, a fear our culture returns to time and time again in our fiction, because we know, deep down, that it’s a genuine possibility. Netflix’s latest true-crime documentary series The Confession Tapes examines cases where the prosecution gained a conviction based primarily on taped confessions that the suspects claim were coerced.

The message, from the start, is that this could happen to you. That could certainly seem like a thesis based in fear-mongering, but that level of skepticism is harder to maintain after watching seven episodes of this show in close succession

Pretty good advice if there's anyway you could be a suspect.

Okay, I'll give you the Cliff notes.

Let's say cops think you killed your wife.

Cops start with," Rollo we just need to clear you so we can move on to find the real perpetrator. Listen, I've been married 22 years. We've had bad arguments. I've hit her, and she hits and scratches me. Every guy has had the thought of just finishing her off. It's normal."

See cops make everything seem normal. If they're dealing with a child molestor, they say, " I've seen 13 years old I would love to screw. With their bodies these days any normal male would love to get into that".

Then after telling you they have physical evidence tying you to the crime, and you're exhausted from 10 hours of interrogation, they suggest maybe you blacked out and don't remember doing it.

Coup de grâce is they say if you confess now, we'll get you a lighter sentence.

If none of that works, they put you in a cell where they have jailhouse informants that will befriend you and claim you confessed to them. Inmate lies, and get a reduced sentence on their charge, and you go away for a long time.

Happens everyday.

For the folks who are skeptical, read this current OC case.

btw the judge is an ex prosecutor. He took the death penalty of the table for a mass murderer because of LEO and prosecutor misconduct.

http://www.ocregister.com/2017/08/18/ju ... rder-case/

Quote:
The judge’s decision is a measure of how Orange County’s justice system has been damaged by accusations that law enforcement has for as many as 30 years secretly and illegally used jailhouse informants to cajole confessions from inmates represented by attorneys. Information about those informants was routinely withheld from the defense, courts have ruled.

That's simple. I look for the one armed man and HE did it.

And I get to cause a train wreck, too. :D

I do, howeer, resent your suggestion that the cops would do anything to PRESSURE or FOOL me into confessing.

Why, the double team that showed up at my shop for smoe stolen swag TOLD me that they had WITNESSES that I bought the junk.

To which I replied, "GREAT, now sweat THOSE sons of bitches til they tell you WHO they were with when I bought it."

Their expressions were priceless.
They ONLY send TWO guys when the arrest is imminent. The crook had a fake ID and I had his signature, thumbprint, and everything.

I'm gonna watch this show tonight and if I don't like it I will return to this thread and express my displeasure. Seriously. I'll do it.

Ok, I finally watched the first episode. I like the way it's presented, so far.

Will continue watching when I'm not busy doing nothing, which is what I do now.

Doesn't sound like much of a confession to me.

Mean sis cancelled my netflix

but there's something I found on Youtube and watched similar. It's these guys (former inmates I assume) who go to death row and interview, at length the condemned. They only air the footage when the person is within an hour of execution. Essentially, if you're watching it the person has already been executed. The exchanges are interesting. Many hang onto the lie, even staring death in the face.

I've never met a guilty inmate.

They were all railroaded.
