Trump rocks, and I say that without him asking me to.

A coal mine just opened, after Obama shut them all down. Go, Trump!

Fake news. There were plenty of coal mines still open under Obama.

Can't you guys make your points without alternative facts?

Then I will post a correction.

Obama didn't get them all.

Yup. Obama wanted to burn our tax dollars while Trump wants to burn coal.

Coal is the past, not the future. Pretending otherwise hurts America. Why Trump feels a need to misstate facts and pander (is it his lack of attention or interest that leads him to say untrue, dumb stuff or does he know that what he's saying isn't true?) isn't clear to me. That it costs and hurts America, is clear to me.

China and Germany lead the world in renewables. China, France and even Britain are building nuke plants. the US hasn't finished a new nuke plant in over 30 years.

Coal fans are hurting America. Trump is hurting America. Congress is hurting America. They should be streamlining approval and financing of nuke plants, encouraging solar and wind. It's painfully regressive to watch.

Without coal, what will America use for Christmas presents once the banks are deregulated again?

Hi, I want a loan.

The bill would also repeal a pillar of Dodd-Frank that allows regulators to manage the failure of a major financial institution, replacing that power with an updated version of the bankruptcy code

Owe money?
Yeh, a lot.
Okay, you're bankrupt.

You do know which party has been responsible for the lack of nuclear development?

It's a good thing Barry approved a bunch of nuclear plants in the last 8 yrs.

My bet is on Trump to get a couple approved in the next 7

By contrast, the Toshiba-Westinghouse withdrawal from nuclear construction shows how daunting it can be for the private sector to build these plants, even with generous government subsidies like loan guarantees and tax credits. Projects take decades to complete. Safety concerns change along the way, leading to new regulations, thousands of design alterations, delays and spiraling costs for every element.

Yeah, "repeal and replacement" of Dodd-Frank seems like groundhog day. Take the biggest economic catastrophe of the past 3/4 century, and weaken the regulations designed to prevent another. :(

Coal is the here and now. It will be many decades if ever before wind, sun, geothermal, etc can provide ALL of our energy needs.

And let's not even discuss the complete rewrite of the Health Care Law going on in the Senate right now, in secret. With no public comment or any other kind of analysis.

To be voted upon before July 4.

The GOP and conservatives, killing the country one day at a time.

Thanks to the "we're going to have to pass the bill before we know what's in" philosophy of The Party, transparency is long gone.

It wasn't painful to watch ISIS decapitating heads as the last president trotted off to the golf course?

Your painful to watch comments were notably absent when the moronic ACA was shoved through the houses of congress like a chunk of flank steak through a meat grinder. Your painful to watch comments were absent as the last president split the country racially to pre civil rights era.

As a bumper sticker, that might win an elementary school competition, even though most elementary school children would recognize how stupid it is.

As always, I have to admire your ability to say crap like this with a straight face. I mean, seriously, if you find it worth mentioning that China gets less than 10% of its electricity from nuclear, solar and wind, how can it not be worth mentioning that China gets most of its electricity from coal, and burns nearly as much coal as the rest of the world combined? Or that China is adding more coal generation than all other sources combined? The left coast snobbery that leads to laughers like "coal is the past" ignores the rest of the planet. Coal is the future for most of the world, for decades to come. If we, reasonably, decide that coal is dirtier than we'd like to use for our own electricity, that's fine. But we have trillions of dollars worth of coal here ready to sell to virtually every other country. Few things would hurt America more than to leave all that coal in the ground.

Demonstrably false. But regardless of what whacky Fix News drivel you've imbibed, why aren't you (and the rest of your board brethren) up in arms about what the Senate is doing?

hmm: hmm: hmm:

Look backwards on this thread, Mick, and you will find nearly 9000 posts that are up in arms. Maybe the New York Times can condense it for you.
