That depends on what you're trying to access. Do you have a Microsoft Exchange account that you're using? If so, you should be using Outlook. If not, take your pick. Mozilla Thunderbird is my favorite.

I use Gmail. If your server supports POP3 or IMAP (which most every one does), you can point Gmail to it and get your mail.

This allows me to read my mail on any computer in the world, regardless of what OS it's running.

PC-based mail clients are so last decade. Well, unless it's Exchange and Outlook, as the SuperGenius noted. Then you get to use OWA when traveling.

Of course, you have to be OK with Google reading all your mail. For me, that ship sailed years ago. Come at me, bro.

Just keep in mind that while you can read your email on any computer in the world, so can the person who inevitably hacks whatever web-based email client you choose to use. We know that Yahoo email was massively hacked. How many hacks have gone undetected and unreported?
