I mean the glass pot itself. I have one with calcium deposits on it and I'd like to get rid of them. They seem like they're pretty much glued on there, but I'm sure there is a way. chin:

Let it sit with vinegar in it for a while. If it doesn't all come out, scrub it with a mild abrasive and do the vinegar again.

Thanks, I'll try it. Most of it is on the outside, so I'll have to soak it. It's a small Krups four cup coffee maker, so the pot might fit into a pan.

This is a good forum, and few people know it's here. Maybe that's why it's good. :D

why not use CLR or Lime-Away? Make sure to wash repeatedly afterward, but that stuff will do the job very quickly.

I soaked it 24 hours in a mixture of vinegar and water and there is still calcium on it. Maybe I'll try CLR.

You probably need a stronger acid.

Maybe I should have used pure vinegar.

Definitely. Vinegar is generally already only 5% acetic acid in water to start. You should have followed my instructions

Salt is also a good abrasive.

Let it sit out in the sun for a few days.

Actually a good cleaning agent is the juice of a lemon or a lime.

Slice a lemon on half. Pour a fair quantity of salt into the carafe. Use the lemon (slice side down) on the salt to scrub.

I soaked it in vinegar and it got a lot of it. It's still not perfect, though. The coffee pot only holds two cups, so it fit into a pan.

Well, the markers say four, but realistically I get two cups of coffee out of a pot.

You must have a big cup.

Mine is a 12 cup and we usually end up throwing some away.
