Hello all. Well here we are, beginning of June (again). I forget sometimes how spread out we all are, some of you guys are harvesting already.
This is a giveaway for one Morgan Silver Dollar, raw and ungraded and here's how it works:

Sept 1st, whoever has the largest tomato wins !!!! (If we need to go later for Canadians let me know) But here's the catch.
You have to grow one larger than me to win. I don't have anything out there specifically meant to be BIG. Beefsteak is my largest type.

No leadshot sunk into the backside of the tomato. Honor system. Pic of mater on scale. You beat me and the rest of the gardeners on the forum, you win a Morgan.

Add tomatoes as you go, simply edit the post with your newest entry or make a new post. For instance, if you go out to the garden on the 10th of July and pull out a 1lb er, post it. Then if a week later you pull a bigger one out, edit the old one out. What counts is your biggest by SEP 1st. Good luck.

Leaderboard
1)Ksteelheader 22.6 oz
2)TRX - 12.6 oz
3)RG - 6.4 oz

It's going to be a competitive year me thinks... Thanks pimp!

I'll get things started off by at least getting a number on the board... Here's a 0 lb 0.4 oz victim of thinning and sucker removal.

Good to get on the board, you never know with the weather everyones been having. Good luck. I've got 3 plants in the compost heap sitting in almost straight chicken. Those are wildcards but if the nitrogen doesn't kill em they could produce massively.

Not great looking but here's the thing. These were throwaways just a few days ago, overgrown for their 8oz cups. They were almost nothing but stems put in a heap and in a very short time they've perked up and are on steroids. I figured the litter was way too hot and maybe it is, the leaves are a little yellow, but if they green up i think it's on. If by chance any of the few are beefsteaks it would be nice. I have beefsteak, rutger, amish paste, opalka and black krim potato leaf- regular leaf this year. Anything else will just be a few of, I'm not completely done.

The changes have been made.

Had this fuddernutter dream last night that I had somehow rigged a trench underneath the plants.. like a hydroponic system out in the field? It used to be dreams about flying or getting laid but now it's monster tomato and being able to roll out a 2 lb'der live here.

Your peppers look great. I've got jalapeno, bell, cayenne and tabasco for the chili powder. Nothing showing but flowers. There's still plenty canned from last year but it aint the same, I'd kill for a fresh ripe jal or 10 for some tacos.

Heading out now been on autopilot for almost a week.

It's still early, but I can see you guys are in a drought. We had it last season and it hurt things for sure. This season is completely different. Some of my amish paste are getting huge. Nothing ripe yet and still a lot of fruit to be set but plenty look over a pound hanging. It's doing so good things year, I'm considering dropping the requirement to beat me. Considering hmm:

I'm taking one in today to weigh but it's about the same size as the last one I posted... Maybe slightly larger. You're right though the early onset off 100 degree days has stunted growth and set... Though I still have a lot of tomatoes and chilis. FYI some of the black krim potato leaf plants are over 7 feet high but the amount of fruit set on the is pitiful at best. Maybe they don't like the heat?
