We can extend this past Sep 1 if you've got decent hangers when the time comes. If you're just now flowering it might be necessary. Keep us posted.

I'm taking one in today to weigh but it's about the same size as the last one I posted... Maybe slightly larger. You're right though the early onset off 100 degree days has stunted growth and set... Though I still have a lot of tomatoes and chilis. FYI some of the black krim potato leaf plants are over 7 feet high but the amount of fruit set on the is pitiful at best. Maybe they don't like the heat?

Could be. That's why I fall back on the rutger now, they swallowed those 100 degree days up like candy last year while the others cowered. Beefsteaks looked like ping pong balls by the end. I'm convinced in a hot climate a guy almost has to eliminate the beefsteak family.
My krims are hit and miss. Half are heavy fruiting and the other half are disappointing.

It's also possible that your soil is too nitrogen rich. This can produce a nice plant but limited flowering. Possibly adding a high phosphorus fertilizer could help.
amish paste first to ripen up here, even before the cherry's. Nothing as big as what you've got there so far.

Changes have been made.

That last one I posted is either a German Giant or an Aussie... I got them mixed up and don't remember which is which. I ate it and it was very meaty without a whole lot of free juice... it was pretty tasty and it with some salt and pepper was my whole lunch.

mmm and the 1 lb. barrier has been broken. Updates have been made. Those amish paste i mentioned earlier that looked like 1 lb. hangers, turned out so far to be just under 11oz. :(

it'll take a roided up beefsteak or multi morph to beat that one i think.

Perfect storm with a morphed brandywine. Lucky us for them birds or
that might have come real near 2 lbs. Changes made.
Gettin real tough to beat. Those sprawlers that were
throwaways in nearly straight chicken Elmo did take off.
Huge and healthy plants. They're way behind the others just now
showing some fruit. so while it is getting dark there is still a ray.

They don't allow non-typical deer in the B&C book... Nor should we in the tomato contest.

I'm devoting this entire labor day weekend to putting things up. It'll more or less close out my tomatoes as well.

Just about last call here on the contest too. Going...Going...

Not bad at all. That beats anything I came up with this year. At 22.6 oz I am declaring KSteelheader this years grand prize winner. If you and your girl come up with anything over that in the remainder of this season, post it in this thread barndog and i'll send out another one! Mcgyver is mia in this thread so I guess he's bust by now. Nobody else any further north. In the meantime, Congrats Ksteelheader on adding to the stack.

Seriously though, thanks all for playing. It wasn't the best of years here, but it was far from the worst. There's was more than enough to sustain my family for the year and for that I thank God.
